I just noticed this on the front page, I can't get in to see new photos, like before. Then I went to put everything back to normal (a page available if you click the Register link) and I noticed something that essentially answers the question. Here's basically what it says, and in bold is the problem.

The server www.airliners.net
wishes to set a cookie that will be sent
to any server in the domain .airliners.net
The name and value of the cookie are:
oldcounter=999999

This cookie will persist until Wed Dec. 31 16:00:01 1969

Do you wish to allow the cookie to be set?

So you see... your computer is automatically deleting the cookie because it is set before the current time. Thus that's why none of the regular services are available, because they use cookies! At least that's my explanation.

So you're saying that its because the cookie has the wrong date....telling it that its expired? So how do we change it, or is that something the airliners.net folks have to do?

Unfortunately that's something that's left up to Airliners.Net management (hehe, that sounds somewhat odd) because we can't exactly hack in, find the exact code, and change it now can we? So we can wait... I mean it's a small price to pay, all the basic services are up and running beautifully into the next millennium.

Moi,
Kai

When I got back from Holiday there were over 1500 pictures to check. When I was able to take the time to go through them all, they were gone, and then I couldn't re-register. Bummer! Well I know they'll get it fixed.

What a fantastic New Year we just had!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Tried it both with IE and NS, neither working. They'll get it fixed, don't worry.

AIRLINERS.NET CREW
SITE ADMIN

Fixed.

A problem with an old cookie lib for a perl script (I still use perl on a few pages where I haven't updated to PHP). Sorry that I didn't fix it before Y2K, I really should have gone though the scripts in more detail. Anyway, it should be working again. Unfortunately you will probably have to re-register though (using the "Already Registered" form).

Please send me an e-mail if you experience further problems.

Regards from Manila,
Johan
