Icelandair 757 Engine Problem Today At Can. Island

Today, an Icelandair 757-200 en route from the Canary Islands to Keflavik, Iceland had to return 30 minutes after take-off due to a problem with one of the engines. The problematic engine was shut down and the aircraft landed safely. After a brief inspection, it was concluded that the engine problem was more serious than first though so the 160 passengers were transferred to a hotel for the night. Another Icelandair jet which flew a scheduled flight to London tonight will continue from there to the Canary Islands to pick up the passengers and bring them back tomorrow morning.

I would guess that the aircraft in question is TF-FIW, as that is the Icelandair charter plane (marked "Icelandair Holidays"). Can someone confirm this?

There was an Icelandair 757 in MBJ on 12/31. Could it be the same plane? I wasn't able to see the titles on it, but I knew it was an Icelandair 757.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure about that, But actually I was seeking confirmation about the reg. (TF-FIW or not). Big grin

Not unlikely, but I am not sure. TF-FIW is their only 757 configured for charter flights (single class).
