By looking at the websites of Airbus, and some other news, it says that Emirates are going to recieve their Airbus A340-500's by the end of 2002 or early 2003..
now did the A340-500 roll out of the factory yet! i havent seen any pictures of them yet, but i have seen for the A340-600's.
and how about their USA routes?
Can some one explain?

Hello,
I believe the A340-500 roll out will be in February. Certification will be completed by October this year (short certification because of how similar it is to the A340-600)

Just got back from Dubai last night....
As far as i know, Emirates is on track to receive their first A340-541 plane in early January 2003. However, some recent info i read on the orders group at yahoo indicated April 2003. I will need to double-check this. First destination planned is New York. I was in DXB last week, and got confirmation that Emirates is indeed planning a significantly improved premium product in First & Business class on the A340s. The airline is keeping the product under wraps and not giving much away and apparently the new First class will offer facilities that neither British Airways or Singapore Airlines currently offer. What could that be now ???
On a different note, A6-EAJ - Emirates' next A330-200 is due to arrive in Dubai on 30 Jan at 0600. It will be a low density acft.
Also, it is been reported in local press that Emirates is planning non-stop flights to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt from March 2002. ??? Am trying to get to the bottom of how true this is.
