What Up With KIWI-"The Airline People Hate"

I want to know what's up with KIWI. Are they out of buisness? I have not heard anything about that airline for like 3 months any info about KIWI is welcome. Also mention why you hate KIWI.

I think they are very close to liquidation. There was an investor that promised an infusion of cash...but he never came up with it. So...I heard about a week ago that they were being liquidated.

I flew on them in the winter and summer of 1998 to newark from Midway. I felt safe on the planes, but the fa's were terribly rude and the ticket agents didn't know what they were doing.

My coworker was on a flight once were the captain gave out the CEOs home number for people to call and complain.

Well..I loved Kiwi when they were around. Great service, delicious food, and highly experienced Flight crews. I always liked seeing 3 "Four-Stripers" in the front office. I hope they return, albeit w/ a more efficient fleet.

It used to be 1-800-JET KIWI. I don't know if that one still works though.

KIWI has already secured itself a place in "Deregulation KO's II", if it ever comes out. I don't know what happened, but KIWI was ONCE a highly praised, and well liked airline airline. They won Consumer Reports best low fare airline award a few years ago. It seems that only the last 2 years or so before they went under that their reputation went out the window. That shouldn't come as a surpise because KIWI was ran by ex Pan Am and Eastern management. As for getting timetables, I'm afraid you're a day late and a dollar short. Not to fear, over the course of a few trips to EWR, I managed to procure KIWI paraphenelia such as timetables, ticket jackets, brochures touting the startup of KIWI. I made sure to collect these items in excess, so with a little freindly persuasion on your part, I might be nice enough to share some of them with you....E-mail me if you want more info.

hello. KIWI INterantional already filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy which liquidates the airline. The company had another investor corporation try to pay to buy the airline. they pulled out when they discovered KIWI's debt came along with the deal, and all they wanted was an operating certificate. KIWI was doing very good in EWR, at one point they were flying 15 B-727s. this is highly attributed to the disaster Continental was back then. when Continental got there act together under Bethune, KIWI was helpless. they had a major airline making an excellent comeback on there home turf. business pax started flying continental again due to travel agency rewards offered by CO. KIWI couldn't compete well enough, and the 727's were too big. I think they should have gradually started flying DC-9s or 737-200s to get rid of excess capacity, oh well! That's pretty much what happened to KIWI.
