Will Allegro take some MD-80's beside the ex-AM DC-9?

I don't know for sure, but taking some more MDs to replace the 727s would be profit wise. I guess there are many cheap MD-80s in the second hand market.

Allegro did have one or two MD-80's some time ago. My brother flew on one MEX-CUN-MEX. I will guess that they got the B727 for a cheaper price and they return the 80 to the leasing company.

Allegro needs a replacement for the old B727's and the MD-80 will be excellent since they burn less fuel and they only require two pilots instead of the three the B727 uses.

I was reading on the newspaper that allegro is not very good financially; they had to close their regional airline in Nuevo Leon and they had to stop the development of the schedule service division.

Maybe Allegro did like the 83's?

I did some research and found that they once operated the following:

MSN
49845 MD-83 With AeroMexico as XA-SXJ
49848 MD-83 With AeroMexico as XA-SWW
53191 MD-83 With Air Jamaica as N191AJ
53192 MD-83 With Air Jamaica as N192AJ

They should be getting good deals to start a fleet renewal in this times?
