Did you see the confir, ation that some of Easyjets expected new order for 75 aircraft are definitely to be deployed on massive expansion from EDI/GLA. There was a route map in one of the Scottish papers showing Easyjet flights from GLA/EDI to Malaga, Nice, Geneva , Paris and Barcelona.
It looks promising. No official start date though.
Continental to EWR to restart daily. Soon also to be operated by 767's.

Rail links:
The scottish executive has announced that there is only enough money to finance the construction of a rail link at one of the countries airports. Edinburgh is favourite, with a proposed £100m scheme that will re-route the major lines past the airport, with an underground station. Glasgows scheme has not been decided on. the papers are quoting a £40m scheme to run a line in Glasgow central. BAA is not too happy with this, as it means anyone travelling further up scotland will need to cross over to the other station in glasgow. An alternative scheme to build a better railway link will cost £140m. there is a feasability study underway at the moment, with results due back in a few months over which scheme is the best to go with
Continental Boost
Continental will upgrade the service to glasgow from a 757 to a 767. they are also meeting with EDI to discuss the possibility of a second service to EDI. this route was being discussed in the run up to sept 11, but due to the events of 911 talks were stopped. It was supposed to start in summer 2002, but with current talks expected to announce a decision within the next few weeks, it is unlikely to be until summer 2003 that the route will start.
easyjet expansion
A few of easyjets proposed 75 aircraft will operate new routes out of edi and gla to various european destinations, including: barcelona and southern spain, malaga, and paris orly (pending approval of slots)
EDI continues to grow
traffic at edi continued its strong growth, with passengers exceeding 6m. Traffic movements again increased at a higher rate than any other scottish airport (and most english too). A survey showed that Edinburgh was the second most popular tourist destination in the UK, second only to london, with glasgow coming in third.
thats all i can think of now, perhaps someone else willfill you in on anything else...

a few new things:
A new airline, Mama Air, will be launching soon. Based in London Manston int (kent) it will be serving a few destinations in europe. Its only route in the Uk will be to edinburgh
ScotAirways has pulled out of Glasgow, Aberdeen, Paris, Luton and Cambridge, and will be transferring all flights over to Edinburgh. They are planning to operate 16 flights a day between EDI and london city airport.
Sorry but most of my news only really concerns EDI, perhaps someone else knows whats going on at the other airports?

Glasgow International has a huge new multi-storey car-park nearing completion. It stands directly infront of the terminal building and is connected to the first floor of the terminal with a large walkway.
