I think that Swissair is by far the best European airline in the business.

Hello,

I 300% agree with you about Swissair, however they are dead. No more Swissair, now it is/will be Crossair (or whatever the new airline name will be, it will definitely contain "Swiss") On March 31, 2002 the the “SR” flight number prefix will be used for the last time, being replaced with “LX”, the code for Crossair. Swissair then will only be a part of history.

I wrote an Airliners.net article about Swissair which will hopefully be put up soon.

I don't know about within Europe..but going to Europe I enjoy BA Club World and VS Upper Class.

For some reason folks don't seem to appreciate Air Canada which also has a very solid business product.

Swissair (or the former SR) did have exceptional service in Business Class (I never had the opportunity to fly SR First). But, I also flew SR - LAX-ZRH, YUL-ZRH in economy, and found the service exactly as one would find it on-board BA, LH, AF and other european carriers.
The interiors on the MD-11, for one, seemed a bit out-dated, and the quality of food served was rather questionable. In all, I have flown SR 6 times. While I would place SR Business Class in the top 3 Euro Carriers, one must also look at Economy service when grading. SR, in many cases, is a bit over-rated. BUT,
that's just my personal observation.

In my opinion, and from personal experience, the one European carrier that fails to get its deserved praise is
Finnair. I have flown Finnair 3 times, and must say that this carrier not only has extremely clean and comfortable interiors, but as well exceptional in-flight service. The in-flight cuisine is absolutely wonderful.
If I had to cast a vote for my personal favourite Euro carrier, it would, without a doubt, go to Finnair.

Maybe old and out-dated. But SR always had ways to make anything look good.

Am i right?

Oddly enough- despite also flying BA, BMI, VS, SR, IB and LX, I felt Air Nostrum was the best product I've flown on recently

I must say Swissair, Swissair, Swissair.
Hopefully the "new swissair" will maintain the same quality and service, if not better! Ill have to try SAS and finnnair next time as well!!!

cheers

Well, my vote goes for Crossair. I have been flying for some 20 times on LX services, both in Economy and Business Class and enjoyed every single flight! Their economy service is was better than in Business Class on other airlines....

I really hope that the huge expansion won't break Crossair's neck  Sad

If we also consider the number of awards it won in the last years, Lauda Air A/G is the best European airline for service and quality for flights within Europe.

Onboard of its CRJ it was offered an all business class service to all pax.
