Gate 10 at AUS is still configured with the dual jetbridge for pax loading from both the front and back door on the 737. I remember hearing about this as part of an experiment that if successful would be expanded to other airports. To me it seems like the 5 minutes of faster board/turn time is not worth the expense. Does Southwest agree? I have never actually seen the 2nd bridge being used when an aircraft is at gate 10.

In AUS, Southwest's dual jetbridge is at Gate 9, not 10. The few flights I've taken out of Gate 9 since September 11 have had the section leading to the rear door roped off, although they were using it earlier in the year.
When I flew to and from DAL for Christmas, we arrived/departed from Gate 8 at Love Field (the other dual jetbridge), and the rear section also was not being used.
Southwest may still be studying whether or not it's worth the extra cost, but that issue is probably low on their list of prioroties right now.

We have dual jet bridges at several gates at Terminal 1 at JFK. However, they only connect to the first and second door of the aircraft, forward of the wing. They come in handy when boarding aircraft with 2 aisles, which is pretty much every aircraft we get at Terminal 1. Bridge 1 at the front door is used to load pax sitting on the right hand side of the aircraft whilse Bridge 2 at the second door is used to board pax sitting on the left hand side of the plane. I can tell you from experience this saved a good 10-15 minutes when boarding.
