Hi all,

Well, I'm finally thinking of taking private flying lessons and have a query on the medical.

Eyesight - how bad is allowed ?

Hearing - What are the thresholds ? My hearing starts off on a 40 decibel loss and is non existent at extremely high frequencies. I use hearing aids and this means I understand speech perfectly. In short - my hearing aids make everything manageable for me; but is this allowed when flying ? Or do you have to pass the medical WITHOUT aids ? In which case I may as well forget any aspirations I have of taking to the skies now  Sad

Any advice appreciated - I'm presuming I could go for the private license - anything beyond that won't be worth it with my hearing levels.
