Here some news from Italian carriers:

ALITALIA/DELTA AIR LINES with effect April 1st. 2002 will add the new route in sharing with Alitalia from Milan Mxp to Atlanta.

AIR EUROPE ITALY has confirmed the joint venture with Costa Cruises to operate a weekly charter flight from Verona to Pointe a Pitre thru April 20th. 2002.

ALITALIA has dropped the route Alghero-Milan, after the start-up operations by Air One, the new carrier cleared from the italian civil aviation authority to operate the route with government financial aids.

AIR ONE is expected the delivery of two B737/800 wet-leased from Transavia PH-HZI, HZG. They have also leased a B737/300 regs PH-HVV from Transavia to cover the expansion of the domestic timetable. Further four B737 are expected in delivery on Jan. 20th. 2002, in future will be returned to lessor part of the oldest dryleased aircrafts.
The local regional administration court in Lazio has suspended the allowance for Air One to operate the routes Alghero-Milan- Rome and Cagliari-Milan with government funds aid. The italian civil aviation authority this new event on March 7th. 2002, until this date Air One has to modify its timetable and fare structure on the three routes. AIR ONE has also launched the new promotional fares called WEURO starting from 50 until 70 Euro one way, saleables until 5 days before the departure and without refunds and date changeables.These fares are available until March 24th. 2002.

EUROFLY has ordered two A330 for the long haul charter flights.On Feb.10Th. 2002 will be opened the offers to purchase the carrier, after that Alitalia has advised about the intention to sold out the airline.

GANDALF AIRLINES, Italian stoke exchange has approved the increase of the share capital, the airline will offer new shares with combineds warrants for the year 2002, 2003, 2004 that will be quoted in the new stoke exchange market. The airline told that new increase capital provide for an increase of 4.591.776 new shares to the nominal value of 1,45Euro offered in option to the shareholders new 4 shares each pour one oldest at a price of 5 Euro.
Combined freely a number of 4.591.776 warrants, one warrant pour each one new share.

MERIDIANA has declared that is now in crisis status and plan to drop 151 employments in Sardinia, Mr. Sebastiani CEO of the airline has to meet the trade unions next week to resolve the situation. During this time the managers has decide to lower the salaries of a 10%. MERIDIANA in the 2001 has carried 3,3 million of pax, despite of the traffic lose in the third quarter where in 2000 has carried 1,1 million and in the 2001 only 0,9 million.

AIR SICILIA offer the route Palermo-Pantelleria at 50 Euro one way for adults and 30 Euro to the childrens under 11 yrs of age.

AIR VALLEE has at the moment only two Do328JET in fleet, at the moment is unknown the scheduled delivery of the following three airliners ordered.

RYANAIR, rumours reports that in future the airline is interesed to open the route Forli'-Hahn.

VOLARE AIRLINES has received its second A321 regs I-PEKN. Also VOLARE GROUP intend to establish the fleet composed only by Airbus Industrie manufactured airliners, soon duting the 2002 the three B767 and two B777 will be returned to lessor and replaced by five A330. VOLARE AIRLINES banned now to fly on the routes Cagliari-Milan/Rome has protested and placed opposition to the administrative regional court

NEOS on Feb.28th. 2002 its receive the first B737/800 from Boeing, this airliner in 184Y will be introduced on March 11th. 2002 on the route Milan Mxp-Ilha do Sal, the second airliner will be introduced during the summer with the new introduction of 12 seats in business class.

AIR DOLOMITI with effect March 31st. 2002 will add the routes Bologna-Bari operated on daily basis with ATR42/500, Venice-Bari operated on daily basis with ATR72/500. These two flights has obviously has final destination Munich.
Passengers from Bari has also the opportunity to have connections are also available from Bologna to Bruxelles /Dusseldorf/Frankfurt.
Mr. Alcide LEALI chairman of Air Dolomiti has increased the presence as shareholder into the airline from 50,30% al 53,945%.
In 2001 was a great development year for Air Dolomiti where has carried 867648 passengers +21,5 % on the regular flights despite of the crisis.
Air Dolomiti has introduced three new CRJ200 and opened new important strategic markets as Amsterdam, Berlin, Bruxelles, Vienna, Milan Linate and Bologna.
Capacity offered measured in ASK (Available Seat Kilometres), is improved of + 24,52% despite the trobles recorded on the last third 2001 charatized by a series of extraordinary events that has forced into the ontime status of the flights.Air Dolomiti has a very levelled load factor (54.43%), with the same value scored in 2000, the highest increase of passengers in regular flights + 21,52%, has joined the interesting value of 867.648.
Total passengers enclosed regular flights, charter and wet lease are up to
922.000. AIR DOLOMITI has recently presnted in a press conference the new flight Bologna-Bruxelles. Alcide Leali the airline chairman and founder has advised about the new expansion of the carrier that wants to continue to open new flights or increase the frequencies on the present route in operations to offer the best service in term of onboard service and frequent flights
available to the customers.
In next short future will provide to open the new route Bologna-Bari on daily basis to resume and extend the operations period of the seasonal Bologna-Alghero. New cared timetables will be offered on the route Bologna-Munich. In 2003 is expected to base two new airliners in Bologna, 1 CRJ200 and one ATR. The CRJ's shall be introduced in international rotation and at this time are in evaluation new routes from Bologna to Spain,Sacndinavia or to East Europe (rumours report is the Bologna-Warsaw is one
of the predicted routes).The ATR will be introduced on new domestic routes as a feeder service to the final destinations operated by Air Dolomiti in Europe or to the Lufthansa major destination served from Bologna as Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich.
In 2004 is expected to base new further aircraft and the opening of a new technical operational base.
Alcide Leali says also that Air Dolomiti (owned by Lufthansa with 26% shares in the hands) in future shall continue to add new airliners but with a internal capability not more than 100 seats.
Air Dolomiti has got two Diamond Award in the past week by "Onboard services magazine" in Orlando FL the awards was assigned in the categories "onboard services" and "uniform", Air Dolomiti 4 seasons signed by Settimocielo (seventh sky) was awarded for the extraordinary fashion showed by the flight
attendants in service on the airliners. Air Dolomiti provide to change the fashions of the flight attendants at the beginning of each season in the year. In the category "onboard service" Air Dolomiti was awarded for the time to time change of the menu's during the year, again attenpting to the season where the dishes compose the menu and also for the quality of the dishes served.

They start to talk again about it in the last weeks.
But due to the crisis in the charter market I don't think it will happen soon.

your posts are alwys very interesting and rich of infos.
Where do you find those news?

As for Eurofly ordering 2 A330s, why should Alitalia pay for them and then sell the Company? I thought that AZ would use them for certain routes as they used to do with Eurofly's B767s. And then the A330 could be evaluated also for AZ main fleet.
Moreover, the 5 A320-200s operated by Eurofly are part of the AZ order for 11, that's why AZ only have 6 examples in service.
I hope they won't sell Eurofly but if they do it I hope that Volare/Air Europe will buy it, becoming a very big airline and giving our Country a second truly international airline like UK (BA, VS, BD), France (AF, AirLib) and other Countries have.
