Yes, It is very Possible.
AA had over 200 Alone, so there is over half of them already.... But I like the MD-80's, They are pretty smooth, new looking, and quiet ...unless you are in the last 3 or 4 rows....  Smile

American has 259 MD-80s.
TWA had 103 MD-80s. However I expect up to half of TWA's MD-80s to be returned to the owners/lessors, as AMR does not care for some terms of the leases, namely the high monthly payments on them. Besides, having over 300 ships of one type is not so bad for a large carrier like American. Southwest has over 350 737s in their fleet. Regards.

I thought there were other issues too why AA was not going to keep the TWA MD-80s, I don't recall but I thought it was because of a different cockpit configuration
