It would appear that AirTran will be getting some additional 717's soon-possibly the TWA orphans that AA doesn't want.

I would believe that Midway will want new birds configured to their own specs.

I am trying to be patient, but really-how long could this deal possibly take to turn into firm orders. The announcement was in April 2001, it seems that almost a year is a bit of a stretch although I know that 9/11 had alot to do with things really slowing down.

I hope we hear something soon!

One of the VuelaMex 717s has already been repainted into Air Tran colors. Now only 3 are painted in VuelaMex colors.

I think it would be better for Midway to bring back their CRJs rather than get the 717, although a 717 would look sweet in the Midway Livery~! Big thumbs up

Midway and Midwest Express are two different airlines. Don't worry though, everyone does that!

Don't confuse Midway with Midwest Express. For the short time Midway served Dayton, travellers couldn't distinguish between the two to save their lives! Seriously though, I think ME has deferred the 717 orders until 2003 so they can return to profitability before receiving them.(I don't understand their rationale sometimes) I think they have mentioned this in some of their financial and performance releases. Skyway although will be receiving their 11th and 12th 328JET's and also the Embraer's should start arriving later this year. The Embraer's were slated to start arriving in April but I think it has been backed up a few months.

When Midway was serving ATL, Midwest Express did their ticket counter check in for them in the same line as theirs. Talk about confusing!
717s should still be coming in 2003. They have pilots in LGB doing who knows what. The EMBs will have to come soon to replace some DC9-10 routes (maybe?) which are slowly going to be retired. N400ME is now officially retired :,-)

Midway Express has ordered (in some way, shape or form) the 717; I was referring to them.

Midway operates (or did) the 737/CRJ. They need to focus on a business model that will allow them to survive; let alone acquire a/c!
