Hi- poking around the Shuttle America Website I noticed that under the requirements for new-hire pilots, they want Saab 340 experience. Am I mistaken or do they fly DHC-8s? Is Shuttle America replacing its fleet, or is someone in their IT Department a little confused? Thanks

Shuttle America is bringing on 16 Saabs that they have/will have acquired from Chautauqua (which is where a lot of their capital is coming from these days). The Saab 340s will initially fly BED-TTN, with the DH8s (Allegheny owned) being put onto other routes.
The first 2 Saabs went online in US Airways Express colors within the last 2 weeks and are flying between BED and TTN.

Are you aware that Shuttle America (S5A) now operates under the US Airways Express brand?
The two Dash 8-300's have gone to Piedmont (another wholly owned US Airways Express carrier) in exchange for 3 Dash 8-100's on short term lease (6 months) from Allegheny (another US Airways Express Carrier).
The long term plan is to shift to an all S340 operation (planes will be coming from Chatauqua) while Chatauqua becomes an ERJ only operator. Current plans call for 14-15 S340's in the next 5-6 months. The DH1's are just placeholders until the Saabs come on line.

PIT-LYH starts Feb. 3 (formerly run by CHQ)
PIT-TOL starts Feb. 3 (formerly run by CHQ/TSA)
PIT-IPT starts Feb. 3 (formerly run by CHQ)
LGA-BED starts Feb. 11
HPN-BED starts Mar. 3

So does this mean that the PIT - TOL route will eventuall go back to all Saabs? This makes no sense for USAirways out of TOL. Back in September thru November they were the leading airline at TOL (outboarding everyone else). Now they are like number 2 or number 3 with 4 jet flights a day. Soon, they will be cutting more seats and 3 jet flights to make them Dash 8s. If they cut the Dash 8s to Saabs, I certainly hope they add a little frequency.

I live under the approach path for RW 24 at TTN and have not seen any Shuttle Americas DHC8-300s anymore. I usually see the DHC8-100 in US Airways Express colors and just recently the Saab 340 in US colors.
