Today we put the first American flag decals on one of our aircraft (N308SA). Word is that Colleen wants to put these on all of our planes. Way to go, Colleen!

The decals are located on both sides of the dorsal fin (forward of the base of the vertical stabilizer). The flag on the left side appears normally; the one on the right side is reversed.

Maybe this little bit of American patriotism will aggravate the anti-American crowd on this forum...at least I hope so.

Good to hear, I'm glad southwest is doing this. In a way, this seems symbolic of southwests continuing role as a leader of this country's airline industry!

Hurry up and paint the rest of those 737's with the new livery! How long do you estimate until the whole fleet (besides the three commemerative 737's) is repainted in the blue livery? At least 2/3 of the SWA flights I see everyday here at AUS seem to still have the old colors.

Hey, don't be in too big of a hurry; AUS is one of the few cities that still sees SWA 737-200s!  Big thumbs up

my understanding was that the planes were to be repainted on an as-needed basis. That is to say that they repaint the planes only in D check, rather than do as Delta did (twice) and paint them even when they don't need fresh paint.

That's my understanding, anyway.

I would imagine the American flag would be very difficult to see with the new livery, no? Doesn't exactly stand out against the Canyon Blue color.
