Do you think a Regional Jet could be viable in New Zealand? Certainly it would not make money on such routes as Hamilton-Auckland, but what about slightly longer routes like Auckland-Palmerston North or Invercargill-Christchurch. I would love to see a Regional Jet in Air New Zealand colours. They would be a good replacement for the BAe-146!

Could do well actaully, but with Qantas contimplating the B717 in NZ skies, I doubt it will occur. ANZ has no money to spend on such things, and as shown here in Australia, they werent popular, or profitable! Ansett's disposal of the secondary routes to Kendall just showed that people didnt want to fly in a pencil, when they could fly the B717 instead in many occasions, or a B737.
New Zealand is a difficult market and I wonder why they bother flying B737's for, when they are too large for the market IMO.
