What do you do when you go spotting or photographing them. I always have to have my scanner, pad of paper and a pen for the reg's, bonoculars until I reach the point where I'll buy an SLR, oh ya and my camera!!

A habbit of mine is to buy an iced/slush drink wether it be a "Fruzzie" from Second Cup or a "Slurpee" from 7-11.

People sometimes think I'm doing research, but I just tell them it's a fun hobby! And I think once you get bitten by the aviation bug, your infected for life.  Smile

What kind of habbits do you do while spotting? Any other interesting points you'd like to say?

Contact Winnipeg center now on 134.4, good day.

Smokin cool I went to the airport at the weekend to see what was going on ... and there was not much going on!!  Crying Saw a few light aircraft, and some kangaroo-tails. Didn't take my camera. I'm getting a digital camera soon so I'll try that out next time.

People sometimes think I'm doing research ..  Big thumbs up

In the summer I buy about 2 liters of water plus a couple of Lemon teas as its hot like hell !!!. For food a McD's in the morning and bread and stuff for lunch.

It is almost impossible to go plane spotting in India. you could end up behind bars. still i try to go to my friend's apartment which is fairly in the vicinity of the runway here in Bangalore.

I usually take an SLR (Cannon EOS)(not mine but), my ordinary camera, My walkman. (hardly 2 or 3 planes come every hour here :-( ), so it is hard killing time. then of course, pen and paper. i hope to see my photos some time here on A.Net.

Hi, Grant.......Like your post...!!!!

Last summer, (2001) took the video-camera to YOW, in late June. It was a humid evening
Around 9:15, one of Emery's 8's that was in, did engine start, and taxi out to runway 25.
At that point, the skies opened up, intense lightning, thunder, you name it, the sights, and sounds, of Ottawa ATC, along with intense comms with Emery, sitting under intense local
lightning strikes, heavy rain, made for an awsome display. The 8 aborted takeoff, taxied down 25 to rwy32, then lifted off towards Mirabel. A wonderful 2.5 hours..! caught on video and audio.....!!

What do you like about it....its the truth, one time I was there, just finished playing golf (check out my profile) and we were delayed a bit because of thunderstorms. Well at one of the many good spotting areas at CYYZ, there was a thunderstorm maybe 40Km's or 25 miles dead off Rwy 23 (which I was sitting at) Basically the aircrafts were just getting to about 200-500 feet off the ground and turning hard right to avoid the storm. Most were smaller DC-9's when Air Canada USED to fly them, and other MD-80's from American..A319's and 320's....but then........an Air Canada 744 rolled to the start of the runway......

It was amazing to see this aircraft just get off the ground and turn hard right to the north and gracefully glide into the summer sun that was peaking from the north (it was late afternoon) around this storm cloud.

Oh ya the tim hortons that I should really have stock in is just across the street from rwy23 at YYZ,

Take care everyone,

At Amsterdam, I'll usually park alongside 01L-19R, have my scanner standby and watch tons of aircraft taking off literally in front of my nose at approx 200m distance. Unfortunately this spotters-heaven will soon be turned into a paralel taxiway  Crying.
If 27 is in use for arrivals, I'll hop over to the MacDrive at 27 treshold, get some burgers and cokes, and park at the Mac-parking, with the nose of the car aimed at the 27 treshold, which is so amazingly close that I don't even need binoculares to read the regs! Spotting from my car, with my scanner coupled to my car stereo Big thumbs up
