Hi there,

Is there somebody who can tell me wich bus number I have to take to the Mc Donalds next to RW27 at AMS.
I've got holidays next week and I am planning on going spotting for the day.

Thanx

Here is a link to a map with the busroutes. The trip to the MacDonalds will take roughly 2 strippen (being Dutch you'll know what I mean).

http://members.tripod.de/schiphol/images/bus.jpg

Another very nice spottersplace that can be reached by bus is the place near the Martinair Cargo fascilities. It is better than the MacDonalds. There are more movements and the sun is in the back. Moreover, you are just 100 meters away from the taxiway leading to the Martinair platform.

To go there you can take busline 191, and get out at busstop Reyklaviklaan/weg/straat something like that. From there it is about 10 to 15 minutes walking to the spot. I can not give you precise directions from there on, but if you have the map of Schiphol (such as the map on the link) and you know were the Martinair fascilities are, you will find it.

For more info about this spot look at:
http://members.tripod.de/schiphol/
The name of the spot is Officiele (off.) spot Kaagbaan.

When do you want to go to Schiphol? It is my holiday as well next week, and I was also planning to go to Schiphol.

Thanks man, I am planning on going on the friday next week. Hope the weather is fine and see lots of big birds.
Luckily I have a OV studentenkaart so that makes it even cheaper to go there for the day.

you also can try the new, beautiful Zuidtangent Bussystem, but be reminded of the fact the Zuidtangent stops too far from the Mac, so change buses at Schiphol Plaza

The problem with McD's at AMS is that it sits on the north side of an east-west runway. Terrific view if you are just noting down registrations, but a problem for taking pictures as the sun is always in front of you.

Like Peter said, there are a lot of better places, one of the best ones being opposite the cargo area

The spot at the Mc Donalds is currently the best place to be for arrivals. Because of the winds 27 has been used as the only arrivals runway for several days now, with departures on 24 (good spotting those from near the cargoramp).

If the weather is good I might drop in sunday or late afternoons during the next week or so.
Working in Amstelveen has its advantages (at least something to offset the daily trafficjam).
