When Did Ansett's B 767 Grounding Take Place?

Hey guys!

Can anyone help me on this? When was Ansett's B 767 fleet being grounded? When was that?

Ansett's 767 fleet was grounded in December 2000 (returned a few days later) and April 2001 (effective as of Good Friday).

VH-RMO was the first to return to service about a fortnight later.

Okay,

The grounding was announced on Thursday 12APR01, to take effect from 10PM that night. Ansett jets would be returned to service as CASA checked them.

The first 767 to return, as I said was VH-RMO which returned on Friday 20APR01 operating AN950 (had 170pax onboard who received bottles of wine for their patronage).

Out of interest, the problems CASA found with VH-RMO (767-204) were

1. One too many a fire extinguisher onboard
2. Red paint that wasn't red enough in some areas
3. Too many magazines onboard

I'll say no more.

The reports that I read, stated that there were problems with the engine casings and also with the fan blades. I think that they found numerous stress fractures on each. Whether or not this is true, I have no idea, but it is what the report said. The B767's at Ansett are prehistoric.
