With the World Cup 2002 coming soon, starting next May and June in Korea and Japan, Korean Air has unveiled the WC color scheme to promote the 2002 WC. I think on one of their 747 and 777!!

Is the 777 in the background a -200 or a -300?

They look pretty good to me.

This looks very much like the livery which appeared on New Zealand 747s. I don't remeber what it was promoting but I disliked it for the off-balance of it. This will be the same, drawing people's attention to the back of the plane. Whole-hung special liveries (i.e. Wunala Dreaming) look far better.

Just found this info on the site of Korean Air!!!

KOREAN AIR AIRCRAFT TAKE OFF WITH WORLD CUP FEVER

SEOUL, KOREA (Feb. 7, 2002) -- Korean Air has introduced aircraft with World Cup graphics in celebration of the 2002 World Cup to be held in Korea and Japan later this year.

Two different types of graphics are depicted on the aircraft and they were unveiled in a ceremony today at Korean Air's headquarters in Seoul. The World Cup emblem and two different graphics of a player doing an overhead kick have been added to one B747-400 and one B777 covering both sides of the aircraft. Graphics will be added to three more aircraft (one B747-400, one A330 and one B737) which will be added to operations by Feb. 22. World Cup insignia were also placed on twenty Korean Air limousine buses operating in Seoul. The first World Cup aircraft (B747-400 ) will take off as KE1237 departing at 14:20 today heading for Jeju. The B777-200 will be added to operations on Feb. 8 departing at 11:25 a.m. as KE035 heading for Atlanta, U.S.

Korean Air president Yi-Taek Shim, along with 250 other guests attended the unveiling ceremony to kick-off the events leading up to the world cup which will start in May of this year. As the national flag carrier, Korean Air aims to take World Cup fever to its destinations around the world as part of the growing excitement for the games. Total costs for affixing the decal are 600 million won and it takes approximately six days to complete one aircraft.

Korean Air, with a fleet of 120 aircraft, is one of the world's top 20 airlines and operates almost 400 passenger flights per day to 82 cities in 30 countries. Korean Air is a founding member of SkyTeam, the global airlines alliance - partnering AeroMexico, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines and Delta Air Lines - that provides customers with extensive worldwide destinations, flights and services. Does anybody know whether JAL and/or ANA will also have some airplanes wearing a World Cup paint scheme?
BTW: I´m already looking forward to seeing a Lufthansa 747-400 or A340-600 promoting the World Cup 2006 which will take place in Germany.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The same way I did, before he did !!

Go to the picture, right click, properties. Copy the URL address, like I copied below.

http://a1801.g.akamai.net/f/1801/2004/3d/www.fifa.com/reuters/02-02/2002-02-07kor_big.jpg

In front of it you must type (no space between the equal sign and the URL address)
Then it will work.

Sorry about the little red cross !!

A (bit more artful) copy of the WC design Air France had on 3 747s and some other aircraft 4 years ago. Even attached to the same place of the fuselage and in the same size!

You beat me to showing him 9V-SVE! Big grin
And yeah it is very much like the Air france design but i like KE's much more as it is more artistic and elegant, but the thing that lets down the special arty effect of the 747 design is that the ball is a photograph, a little tacky, shame, but the orange one is perfect!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The reg on the 772 is HL7598. Left LAX exactly on time.

25 H. Simpson : Do you think the 744 is coming to New York? I hope so. btw, how many 744 does KE have?
26 ZK-NBT : If the 744's fly to New York regularly you should see it. KE have 26-27 744's.
27 Flyer732 : The 777 is supposedly in ATL today...
28 H. Simpson : thanks, ZK-NBT.
29 The777Man : I also read that the 777 was supposed to be in ATL, but for sure it was at LAX and the reg. is HL7598, the newest 777 for KE. Hope to have a pic of it
30 Wimpycol : So the reg. of KE newest B777 is HL7598 ( B777-2B5(ER) cn 27949/356 ) What is the reg. number of their B744 with the new WC livery? Anyone? Regards/Sa
31 Post contains images Hoons90 : Thanks! i am so proud of KE doing that scheme because i live in Korea
32 Post contains images Fly707 :
33 Hkgspotter1 : I saw the 744 in Hong Kong yesterday, it was on the normal 773 flight.
