Hi,

I needed the fuel capacity of an older late 1970s model Cessna 172 and the usable fuel load as well... How much fuel in each tank?

I need this for a ground school cross country planning project, I don't have a POH for a 172, just a 152.. Wink/being sarcastic

thanks.
...Serge

Hey Serge,

The fuel capacity for the 1976 Cessna 172M ordered with standard tanks is 21 US gallons in each tank, 42 gallons total, 38 of which is usable.

The long range tanks option is good for 52 US gallons, 48 usable.

Cheers!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Thanks Flyf15.... I guess I'll stick with the 172M however:

"N-number: N9697V
Aircraft Serial Number: 17264476
Aircraft Manufacturer: CESSNA
Model: 172M
Engine Manufacturer: LYCOMING
Model: 0-320 SERIES
Aircraft Year: 1974
Registration Date: 18-May-1998
Airworthiness Certificate Type : Restricted
Approved Operations: Forest"

I don't think it'll matter too much about the date it was manufactured... my instructor won't be too picky...
