UK Airlines And MD80/90

I last flew on an MD in 1993 with Airtours MD83 EMA to KGS and have great memories of that loveley aircraft. I think it was this one:

Does anyone know if there are any MD80/90 still flying with UK airlines, I can't think of any. Pity if not, I love those beauties. Can't beat sitting at the back of the cabin next to those engines and just taking in the roar!

Well, Transjet will have MD83s based in the UK (MAN+LGW), with flights from other UK airports (NCL,GLA?) this summer, but they are a Swedish airline I think.

I think British Island Airways was the first airline to
introduce the MD-83 and that by the end of the 1980s.
Airtours started with 5 MD-83 and this was in the early
1990s !
Concerning Transjet,i think i saw a pic of one of its
MD-83s with a British registration !!!
The pic was on JUSTPLANES.COM !!!

Hi!

Infact I remember seeing BIA MD83's in Lisbon around 1989/1990. Before that they used OMAN Air Force Bac 1-11's also at Lisbon, firstly in a all white libery with brown BIA titles. Latter they evoluted to a more standard and neat light brown livery, after that they're absorved by Air UK I think.
