Labour Considering Blairforce One

This is one of the funnier articles on the front page of the newspaper, I think it is only speculation at this time but it seemed like they'd explored alot of options.

The plan, was to replace the RAF Vickers VC-10 that politicians and the royal family use with an Armoured Airbus A319 Coporate Jet. Now this is the funny part, and I quote 'Or an Armoured Airbus A320 series, which would be much more like the size of George W Bush's Air Force 1'. LOL Laugh out loud .

Well, its obviously serious if it made the front page (it was a local newspaper, and only there for the reason that the wings are built here at Filton).

Your thoughts?

Anyway, what's wrong with a chartered BA 777/747 or Concorde?
But most goverment VIP travel, which is in Europe, is covered by No.32 Sqn. BAe 146 and 125 aircraft.

The VC-10's sadly are to be replaced, whatever new tanker is chosen probably won't do much transport work.
Even the 10 sqn. VC-10 transports got refuelling gear in the 1990's, though they are still occasionally used for VIP work in higher threat areas.
Though the new aircraft will have a troop/freight role, I really think the goverment will stick with the current arrangement.

Lindy has a good point...777 would make a great VIP jet (which really would be comparable in size to AF1!)!
