ive heard rumers that they are going to make a non-stop flight from dfw to bunos aires. is this true? they already have a flight from dallas (fln 901 or 902) but it is via miami. think it will go direct when american starts using the 777s to argentina?

We all respect to my friends from Dallas, putting aside the fact that it is AA headquaters, why would there be such a flight before flights to LAX, IAH, Newark?
Is there demand from Dallas? Not many Argentines in Dallas as far as I know. & ceartanly not at the top of the tourist list for people back in ARG.
That said, any new service to EZE from anywhere is welcomed by me!

Well see...this "Open Skies Agreement" that I think it's already effective , if not it starts this year, basically allows any US airline to fly to Buenos Aires or anywhere else in the country from where ever they want. (I'm pretty sure that's how it works).
So I could see that happening...if they don't make money, they'll cancel it I'm sure.
My opinion, I think American is waiting for Aerolineas Argentinas to go away. If AR goes under , American will have a great day and move in quickly. Maybe I wrong. :|
I'll be very surprised if AR comes thru this, though.

FEDERICO:
You should read other topics related to EZE. The "UAL to Buenos Aires from LAX" thread, for example. I explained (and Lima, too) what the situation with the agreement of Open Skies is. Please read it.

American maybe wants to develop Dallas not only because of the destination but what this hub brings, plenty of connections from that part of the USA and the west.
They already have direct flights to Dallas from Sao Paulo and Santiago de Chile.
Something similar happened when United started Chicago-Buenos Aires; many people didin´t know about Chicago but the route proved to be a success as they later upgraded the aircraft from B767 to B777.

che derico,
u may not know this but dallas is a huge city for buisness. that would probley be why there is a flight to buenos aires from dfw(via miami). lima is right but he helped me think of a problem that would happen if american flew direct to eze. Most of the times that i have flown to dallas i have flown thru chile instead of miami. I am not the only person who does this. the tickets are a few hundred dollars cheaper, and it is the best way to get to asia if u fly american. the flight isnt always full and the main passengers on it are buisness men. if aa were to fly direct to eze, then they would lose passengers on the flight to chile which could cause the route to become unprofitable.
that is my 2 cents, i could be wrong

Yes, I know about the prices. In Chile, & Brazil, everywhere in Latin America things are cheap because they keep devaluing their currencies vs. the U.S dollar.
Even canada's dollar is cheap now. Argentina has a fixed exchange rate. This hurts the country because it makes it VERY EXPENSIVE even for americans. On the other hand, people can feel safe that 1 peso will be worth 1 dollar today & tomorrow. I don't know what can be done to change that, or if a flight EZE-DFW would be altered by this fact.
