I would like to know which airline offers the best inflight-entertainment in economy (inseat video, video on demand etc.) and why.

What do you think ???

Singapore Airlines definitely!!!
over 30 channels including the nintendo and the news and the movies and MTVs etc etc

SIA has the best, definitely. It makes 13hours flights seem to be short haul...
But don't forget Malaysia and Lauda who also offer great entertainment!

UAL has DSV9 (9-channel PTV and AirShow) on all ~29 767-300ERS, about half of the current ~40 777-200s/IGWs, and (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe a very limited quantity of its 41 or so 747-400s.
