Roight! I'll start off by saying a big 'haha' to everyone who has dissed my little airport in the past, growth has continued throughout the past couple of years. Passenger figures passed the 2.6 million last year, and are expected to increase once again next year.
Not only that, but I was informed by a couple of members of the severnside aviation group that a new terminal will be built, and as far as I know will run side by side with the airports existing terminal (only completed in mid-2000), to boost the capacity for handling passengers from 3.5m to 7.5m. Also a new apron, 3 times the size of the original is set to be built, details are still sketchy on what is going on, and there is not much room to expand at the airport site.
This all adds to the recent boosts of a new CatIII landing system, a new control tower and offices/terminal area all recently completed.

When you have such a small airport with such a small number of flights, percentage wise a few more flights will make it look, staistically a fast growing airport but in reality it is still v.small

I don't know the frequencies, but there are 3 (becoming 4 sometime this year) aircraft based here, and they fly to.. Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Nice, Faro Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.

EGGD...I am interested in the Cat III point. According to the latest information I have ( 7 September 2001 as published in a well known manual ) Runway 27 at Bristol is authorised for Cat 2 operations. Runway 09 remains Cat 1. Has any of this therefore changed? I don't have a copy of the UKAIP at hand which would of course be definitive. Regards,Freya

CAT III has only recently gone into operation, they've been testing it for the last year or so, but its only been certified in the last couple of months (uhhh, i'm not sure if it even has entered full operation yet).

How long is the runway at Bristol? Isn't it less than 7,000ft? Just wondering....Would like to visit Bristol one day, I always wanted to see what it was like.
