This week's Flight International reports that GE is removing 90 GE90 engines -- its entire Boeing 777 fleet -- after turbine blade separations caused inflight shutdowns. The engines will be repaired.

The magazine reports that the problems affected Saudi Arabian 777s. They were caused by reverse bending of the second stage high pressure turbine blades, leading to cracking and structural failure.

This will give airlines confidence in Boeing's decision to stick with GE on the 777X, huh?
