Congrats to Northwest! I think it will definately be in their marketing plans for DTW, but I don't think it will be the "centerpiece" of marketing for them.

Congratulations to Detroit and Northwest. The terminal looks fantastic, certainly a huge improvement over the old Davey terminal complex. And with those four parallel runways plus two parallel cross-runways, DTW will become a far better connecting facility than O'Hare. Chicago had better get cracking on Daley and Ryan's plan, or they'll stand to lose lots of pax to DTW.
From what I've read, Wayne County plans to build similar-quality facilities for the other airlines once NW completes its move. That's a true customer-service attitude. Unlike CVG that builds Taj Mahals for Delta, and lets the other airlines stay in 1950's and 1970's slums.

If you were a major player in 1.2 billion dollar venture, wouldn't you want to show it off the world? I sure would... and they have every reason to. YOu just don't get it.

DCA-ROCguy,
We are kinda excited for what DTW has plans for us "other airlines" folks... Last heard, Davey will be completely renovated by 2006. If you are ever in DTW (Smith Terminal) -they have a display of what it will look like.

Is there a model of the North terminal like the one that they had for the midfield? Or are you just talking about the pictures on the wall across the hall from Tequileriza?

Just the display of photos, it would be nice if they would set up a model like they had in the Northwest terminal. I think they have or had a video that was always playing.

When does it open or is it already open? I'm flying to Detroit for a meeting this Thursday on NWA. I was there last month and that old terminal is pretty shabby.

Hi,
I went on a tour of the new terminal yesterday and I am amazed!
I am biased, and I do like NW, but that place is amazing! The tunnel from councourse A to B/C is incredible, I like it a lot more than the one in ORD. Also, the amount of space, the walkways, number of security checkpoints will be sure to make this easy to travel through.
There are also a ton of restaurants there not to mention stores. The displays for flight informaton are bright, clear, easy to understand and will recommend whether to take the ExpressTram or to walk.
