I must first say thanks to Nuno, Captaingomes, for telling mea about a place to spot at YYZ. I was there around 5:30 ish, sitting at the base of rwy 06L and saw C-GTSX I think.

You will also see an error in this photo....thats for avid YYZ spotters though!!! I did send the correction and I hope its gets fixed, do you know what it is???

Also, when the hell did ME start flying into YYZ? Its the first time that I have seen them here, they are no listed on the GTAA website for departures???

Comair had a special livery at YYZ today:

I think this was the one, it was getting dark out when it was taking off so I didn't get the best look at it.

Nuno, I also the A310 there in the cargo area, if you want to get to Dixie Rd and the 401 quickly, you know the stop sign you told me to go right at, go left and make another left like not more than 300 yards, it will say Britania rd, follow it to Dixie, go left for the 401 or right to Derry. That was what I was talking about!!!

Take care all,

Grant

Hey Grant, I'm glad you liked it! I guess I know of a faster way to get out of there, thanks for that.

I went there after work for a few minutes, and saw the BA 777 land, and then watched a couple aircraft take off, from an Air Transat 757 to the BWIA 737-800. I wish I had seen the Air Transat L1011 though.

Well, maybe next time when I'm not in a rush, I'll get to see more stuff.

Take care, and I'm glad you enjoyed the new place.

Hello Grant,
GTSX's photo doesn't contain an error. When that photo was taken, 23 was called 24R.
ME used to fly the DC-9's up here, but since about spring 2000 they switched to the Dornier 328JET operated by their commuter airline, Skyway. The DC-9 over at the infield SSV FBO ramp was probably a Milwaukee Bucks charter.
I shot that Comair livery the day it was filmed on Just Planes' Toronto video, I was standing pretty close to the videographers. I missed it on arrival then luckily it came back out to 23 for departure. Too bad Boeing is closed now, it's a pain.
And yes, GRYD was at infield today, I didn't shoot it though. I did finally get the AF A330 while on final for 05. Then I went up to T1 and did some night photography with my tripod.

Cheers

Jeremy

I saw the BA 777 take off just before i left there. It was a busy day spotting, I was at 05L ( i guess it will be left eventually) and there were lots of people on the dirt hill and parked on the east side of Dixie.

Ya, thanks again,

Grant

One other thing, has AC set up the sports team charter 732 thing yet. I saw a AC 732 up at the north end today. Could it be taking the raptors somewhere....I don't really follow them, but that would be my only guess??

Thanks, and Jeremy, nice to see you today, I was thinking about that, but I guess we are both right, its 23R now.

Jeremy, the GTAA should charge you tax. You're almost like airport property, spending the whole day there! Your dad has a heart of gold taking you there for the whole day Big grin

Hey,

it's not a new spot really. If you take Britannia Rd. along the south edge of the airport, going west, it then goes around and under the approach path to runway 5 or whatever it's called. I can't keep track! Anyways, you can stop there and get a really nice view, or continue until you get to a stop sign, make a right and that takes you adjacent to rwy 33L, and is really nice when they are landing there. This is right by the infield cargo area.

Let me know if you have trouble finding it.

C-GRYK;
Boeing isn't really closed. They did block the entrance way with a pile of snow, but, it's all gone. Was there this afternoon. It's just that stupid mountain of snow in the way, still.
As you folks probably noticed, they seemed to be using that runway mainly for landings. The spotters on the west side of Dixie were quite occupied, i'm sure. I buzzed over to the other runway just in time to see BA's 777 (Netherlands) fly overhead... over four two seven.
I'm sure I'm seeing you folks and not knowing who you are. I do see some vehicles quite regularly, though. Had I been dressed warmer I would have ventured up top T-uno. It gets might windy up there.

Regarding the 06L spot, it is restricted access, sometimes you get lucky and won't be kicked out for quite a while, other times, you could be there for 5 minutes and you will get tossed. Nothing serious ever, they just come and move you along. I found a nice little hill of the new Courtney Park extension that swoops around from Britannia to Dixie, but some security guard came and told me I should not be up on the hill because the tower could see me easily and it was GTAA property and they would send the Peel Tactical boys after me, but whatever, I didn't want trouble so I left.

Grant, There is no 23R currently, it's 23, will eventually be 23R though.

I don't believe that the roads are private in any way. In fact, when doing the fire training last year at YYZ, I asked the fire fighters, and they told me not to worry about spotting along those roads. I think the only thing they can really bother you for is stopping on the shoulder.

We should really get together Neil, I can show you this awesome spot. In talking with Nuno, we should get together and all of us meet at "Threshold Aviation" and maybe take one car!!!

Jeremy as for 23 you are right, but I guess i am getting excited about all of the changes, do you know where 05R is going to be. I was at the Tim Hortons just south of 05 (soon to be L) and it looked like the proposed 05R would be right there? Any idea?

This spring, or maybe summer we should all get together and have a day to spot and chat, I think the afternoon would be best, you know when stuff like BA's 777's come in and leave (if they are still flying) KLM leaves, and other aircraft worth seeing. But there is a lot of us who don't know each other and we are sitting there spotting. I know its cold out but, we should do something.

Sunday Feb. 24 I'm free, its my dad's birthday, but no worries. I will be glad to meet anyone there this Sunday. Let me know!!!

Hello Grant,
You're quite enthusiastic about a meeting here eh? Well this summer, it looks like we will have some out of towners here for spotting, and I plan to arrange something for them on a weekend. I'm usually up for spotting with others, whenever I go to YYZ there is always my buddy Darcy there and we hang out when we see each other, but other than Darcy, and some of the prolific YYZ spotters like John Kelley and Mike Keenan and his gang, I don't really know anyone else. If you ever catch me out at YYZ, say hello, I'd like to think that I'm quite friendly...

In terms of the new 23L/05R, the 23L threshold should be where Vista Cargo is located now. I'd guess 05R would be pretty close to the Tim Hortons/Wendy's.

BA 777's are still flying and will be for many many years yet. They operate into YYZ twice daily, the earlier flight comes in at around 15:00 while the later flight comes in around 18:00-19:00.

If the weather is good, I'll be out next weekend most likely.

Saturday looks like 0C....no to bad, with partly sunny, Sunday looks to be warmer at 3C but wet snow is forcasted...I will be there, how is 2 or 3 pm....Jeremy, will you be in a SUV again? I will have the Silver Lincoln LS with a Yellow rear plate and a fancy plastic "2000 Lincoln car of the year" crap on the front. Sunday is better for me.....

Let me know, gfeggi@rogers.com or gfeggi@eastcourtfordlincoln the second one is better, I check it every day at work, have to come home to get the rogers one.

Hey Guys,

Nice too see the YYZ crew getting together!! It is kind of disappointing to see what they did with the Boeing parking lot with the new wiring fence they recently put up. What was the reason for that? I know people used to liter there alot. That would be my guess.

"Fallingeese" I saw two Canadian Regional F28 in the old colour scheme parked at Terminal 2 on Feb. 17 if that helps!!

9Y-ISA, I think it had something to do with snow removal and where to put the snow.

Anyway, guys I would love to get together and meet most of you. I drive a Beige/gold mazda 626 and am there (mostly the Boeing parking lot) about twice a month. Maybe we can even start a spotting/phot club.

Has anyone bee to Threshold Aviation. I was there and wanted to buy the whole store!!!! Those metal cast models are the best.

Tony, been to Threshold aviation......phsssssssffff I live there, Mickey, Bill, Nuno (captaingomes), Slawko, and a few others work there, great store, Micky will attest that I already have almost half of it....or maybe a quarter. If you are interested, seriously, email me if you are in sunday to just meet and we will go from there.... gfeggi@rogers.com or gfeggi@eastcourtfordlincoln.com

We can meet at Threshold Aviation on Sunday at a certain time and go from there!!

9Y-ISA, It was for snow removal, I don't know if you were there last year, but my ex went to school there and her and I would sit there. One night after a big snow storm, the dump trucks had to go out to airport road and it was a hassel, this way makes sense, the truck don't have to leave the property. But it sucks for us, if you are interested, come on out and meet us email me if you want,
