I wants to know if Royal Jordanian willing to add more aircrafts others than what they are operating ....
They are now using the Boeing 727's, A310's, DHC 8, Boeing 70F, but for this new Millennium, would they be getting new and different aircrafts, and add more cities...?

Hi Bassim,
RJ is mostly relying on the A320 for their european operation (FRA, BRU, ZRH, LHR, CDG, ROM, MAD..). The only 742 was finally sold (it was a desaster cost for them). As far as i know they are trying to get new airbuses. It should be either 330 or 340 to replace the Tristars 1011-500 which they still deploy on BKK, MNL and SIN route and sometimes even JFK and ORD. They should get ride of the A313, it's a very expensive aircraft especially when the cargo utilization is low.
P.s what do you mean by DHC 8 (DC8??) they don't have any!

Amir: the DHC 8 is a commuter plane similar to the ATR, and Dornier Planes. DHC 8 is same as Dash 8-300.

O.K sorry, you meant the Dash-8. Yes you are right they have some flying under the name of 'al ajniha al malakiya' (Royal Wings) which is a sneak out to operate to TLV.

Actually I think Royal Jordanian is the only one world-classy airline to fly the magnificent L1011 yet, but a replacement is really needed: RJ can't compeet with other airlines flying the Amann - New York route with the stop in Amsterdam. I believe that some 3-4 A330-200 or A340-300 or B767-400 would fit perfectly this need.

Actually a LOI for 5 A340 was signed quite a few years ago, but it was decided that the aircraft wouldnt be cost effective, and more 310s would better suit needs...for now. As far as the future goes, who knows? I envision more DHC(Dash)8-300s for the Royal Wings Regional operations, perhaps even -400s.
The used 310-300s are all over the place now, so the leases are probabally really cheap. I think RJ will take advantage of this for a while to come.

i think that the problem is attracting finacial parties to lend money!
The A313 is suitable in size for RJ, but even if leasing cost is low, operational cost is damn high for this type and with RJ's rather low yields (in absence of real C and F/Cl. Pax) i doubt that they break even with this aircraft.

not to forget that RJ is having huge sales generated by the Flight-Ban from/to Iraq. e.g. this traffic is going through AMM. Once Baghdad is online, you can be sure that RJ will have serious troubles. Same is true for BEY. Especially the US routes are filled with ethnic business to/from Lebanon.
KL is operating daily to AMM, LH will increase to daily as of summer schedule.
