Can´t recall where I read that recently, but Kuwait Airways is rumoured to go all-Airbus. The two 747 Classics left are up for sale for some time now, but if true this rumour will mean the 777s will have to go, too.
Don´t think this will have an effect on the Emir´s B 744 though (thats painted in the airline´s colours, but to my knowledge only flies as private/government transport).

As Gerardo has mentioned. I don't think they will operate only Airbus, politic can be a reason and it is for them maybe even more important than an economical reason. Ok, I don't think that Kuwait will be closer to the USA in the future since the fact is that USA needs Kuwait maybe even more than Kuwait the Staates.
But if we don't talk about politics it would make sense of course even I liked both, their 777 and 340

Indeed there are MAJOR politics involved...
Kuwait owes the US a big bill. Not to take away from 1991 coalition forces from other states, but Kuwait is 'free' today because of US led intervention.
That said, the airline should buy the aircraft it needs to do the job right, be it Boeing or Airbus. Although I'd caution; airlines that have recently rushed to dump every Boeing product they have in favor of shiny new Airbuses...aren't doing too well.
