Anyone know the status of Kitty Hawk Airlines? Are they flying again and at what capacity compared to what they used to fly?

Thanks in advance.

Never knew they stopped flying. We've been having their 727s here for about as long as I can remember. As for their bigger stuff...I can't say for sure.

When FedEx took over the mail contracts I know they lost a lot of business but they seem to still be around. Kitty Hawk Cargo here in PDX has some mail volume and still some freight. They have flights everyday...but to where I don't know, but I think it is SEA.

Also see them do some leasing for BAX...

Regards,
Tom

They still fly nightly out of FWA. It was KHI that stopped flying, I believe. KHA never stopped.

Kitty Hawk currently has 2 727-200Fs stored at Kingman, as of last weekend. I don't know if they're long-term storage or what. They're not "concooned", just parked for the moment. Regards.

I have seen still flying on flight tracker a couple of times this week. Flying to/from FWA. Try click at random flight tracker
during late night hours.

I've seen them at both EWR and MSP, too.

KLA_LM u evergreen? the kittyhawk we work (well i no longer do) goes FWA-MSP-SEA-PDX, and reverse. unless something get delayed or broken. which almost invariably happens on saterday. then it goes where it wants to. often GEG. often it skips SEA

I heard they went bankrupt, and are just finishing out some required contracts. I haven't seen our 727 for three or four months.

used to be EZ, now just hanging around with KE...

The Kitty Hawk has them doubled up out here in South Cargo. They kind of get in the way with our Blue Bird, but that's life. It seems they're either keeping a hot spare here or just using it as a parking spot.

Tom

Mikeclod, I believe they did file Chapter 11, but are reorganizing and intend to continue. Maybe someone else can verify with certainty.

Yeah, i thnk the started keeping a hot spare in OCT or NOV. It was good news, since their reliabilty wasn't exactly anytihng to write home about.
