Hi. In October last year QF intl. restarted services from Townsville to Singapore via Brisbane, twice weekly with a 767-300. This was after they withdrew all international flights in 1991, after a ten-year presence at the port. Since 1991 TSV had a few airlines, Garuda and Flight West, provide flights to POM and DPS- however short lived. Now that QF is withdrawing services again, does anyone know any rumours- or confirmation- that any intl ops will start up? Allegedly there are many airlines with rights to fly in, but none are exercised. I also heard that the local regional airline Macair was utilising {before QF intl returned} the international facilities {apron as well?} because of the proximity of the facilities to their check in and office areas. Does anyone have any confirmation of this- eg Macair travellers? Or what would/could happen after QF withdraws again? The intl section of the terminal is the left section with the aerobridge facilities. Although joined as one building, separate lounges exist.

I can confirm Macair using the International Apron, was there last week and took many photos of the aircraft in the area. Also, must have been lucky, I got this 747-300 landing at Townsville, this used to be a regular occurance when I used to live there, pretty surprised to find that it doesn't happen anymore.

OOH!! Not happy...missed the jumbo. At uni preparing for semester start! Jip. My dad actually told me that a jumbo was in but I just thought he saw another aircraft type. You get a bit cynical living up here in TSV, lol. Do you know what the purpose of the flight was? Perhaps a charter bringing international students to JCU...Also, what is the security like at the airport now? I am interested because I want to photograph {not that I am professional or anything with professional cameras} the last {again} QF intl service and also the final YC F28 service- who do you approach to get permission? Thanks.
Can't believe I missed it...do you know if it will return?
