FOR REAL this time or are they just playing with us down here in MEM? If you say so Favre, I'll take your word for it. This makes me happy... very happy. More flying for MEM is badly needed!

NW is doing better and better. Let's support them with their MEM expansion and make sure they keep it.

How many banks did MEM had? (the highest). Any chance wide-bodies flying domestic?

I looked at June's schedule but all of the fourth bank flights have numbers in the 9000's. I'm not sure what that means...does that mean that NW is just testing the waters to see if demand is there?

They had 4 banks prior to 9/11. Figured it would be by June as we are bringing back 25 crews to MEM on the first of June. It was either that, or just wanting to see how many people we could have sitting reserve in 1 day, HA.

Does this mean that some routes axed after 9/11 will be reinstated???

FYI, the 4th bank was in the computer prior to every new schedule change since 9/11. They left it in there to see if there was deman and obviously there wasn't so they rebooked everyone that had booked on the 4th bank flights. That is my reasoning behind this question.

MEM already has DC10 domestic flights, to MSP twice daily as mentioned before.

Most markets were not cut from MEM but frequencies were reduced. Except for SAN, I think that was axed.

Funny, XJ isn't beefing up staffing in MEM. Except on the saab of course.

When you gonna be in DTW this week? I've got a pattern that takes me into DTW Fri-Sun. Maybe I'll run into you.

I would love to see NW add service into New England.... If OMA can support a DC-9 to MEM, airports like BDL, PVD and MHT sure could support at least a CRJ to MEM.

The May schedule still has two DC-10's coming into MEM, but going DTW-MEM-MSP & MSP-MEM-MSP. Supposedly one will be coming in from DTW then.

NW 0277 DTW 10:30 AM MEM 11:30 AM 0 D10
NW 0303 MEM 1:35 PM MSP 3:43 PM 0 D10

NW 0454 MSP 1:25 PM MEM 3:32 PM 0 D10
NW 0459 MEM 5:10 PM MSP 7:18 PM 0 D10

Not totally sure when I'm going to be in DTW on Friday. Fly XJ back, supposed to arrive at 6:30pm, but I want to get out here earlier in the day if something opens up, I'm going to at least try stand-by for the morning flight out. Flying back out again Monday to DEN, too bad we didn't decide to go to ASE, then we could've gone on the ARJ, oh well, sometime.

Will NW bring back that 9:00-10:00 inbound for DTW?

I remember pre 9/11 DTW was very busy between 9-10pm with arrivals, but now there is hardly anything.

PSU - have fun on your trip. One day our paths will cross, since you seem to be a loyal red tailer. Although I've heard you fly AA too.... tsk tsk.

Hllwd: I think NW has resumed the last bank of departures in both MSP and DTW, but not MEM yet. Though there are hub flights arriving from DTW and MSP late in the evening in MEM, for a/c positions etc...

Sweet... nice to see the DC10 coming in from DTW. Seems kinda odd though that it is only 1 way for both DTW and MSP now.

Well, is this confirmed? Will MEM have fourth bank?

I recalled last year it was like six banks..but I may have been mistaken.

No, MEM has not had six banks ever with NW. In 2000 I believe they added a bank of flying and it was actually what we now call the third bank. Flights in the mid afternoon will arrive, about 3-4pm and depart in th late afternoon about 5-6pm. The 4th bank was eliminated due to the fact that night flights generally produce less revenue, hence, the first to go.

I talked to a NW ESE in MEM last night and he said that the company announced it to them. That, with Favre reliable posting on the matter, seems like it's a go for June.

I flew 4 times from/via MEM. A remarkable hub. I like Memphis.

There is only one flight a day to Europe, to AMS. Do you think there will ever be a two times daily AMS-MEM. Could it be fitted in MEM banks ?

cheers

Next likely TA route from MEM is a daily MEM-LGW probably with NW D10.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

YOu're right, I can see LGW as the next trans atlantic flight. Although I'm not too sure how much NW wants to allocate planes etc... to LGW when they can go through AMS. Right now, if you want to get to FRA, CDG and in the summer FCO you'll have to double connect if you're coming from a MEM only out station through MEM and then DTW. Makes for a long and unnecessary journey... especially when they can just take DL (NW biggest competitor in the south) to ATL and nonstop anywhere in Europe basically. So, MEM does need more Atlantic flights, wether NW finds the potential for profits there is another story. Maybe we'll just see another AMS flight operated by NW in maybe the 4th bank when it comes back in June.

Apparantly that KLM flight goes out pretty full with a ton of connecting pax and very little o & d traffic. The MD11 is back in the summer...
