Qatar Airways Route and equipment changes
Qatar Airways has added capacity on flights to Lahore and Peshawar. Lahore used to have 3x weekly A320-232 service and now has one of the 3 flights with the A300-622R, Peshawar used to get 3x weekly on the A320 with occasional A300 service but now 2 of the 3 flights have been upgraded to A300-622R. Colombo is currently served 5x weekly on the A300-622R and will likely get more freq. to make it a daily flight. Dhaka which is currently served 4x weekly might also get more frequency due to the high demand.
Qatar Airways has cut flights on the DOH-AUH sector from 21x weekly to 20x weekly but will likely return to normal schedule during the summer. Bahrain has also been reduced to 15x weekly from 19x weekly.
Qatar Airways operates 21x weekly on the DOH-DXB route with 7 flights on the A300-600R and 14 flights on the A320, due to demand the A300-600R now fly on 13 flights a week while the A320 will fly the remaining 8 frequencies.
New Routes with Qatar Airways
DOH-MXP 4x weekly (starting June)
DOH-CMN 3x weekly (starting May)
DOH-RUH (no details yet but flights could start as soon as April)
DOH-Aden (no details yet)
DOH-Sana'a (no details yet)
The Bosnian Embassy in Qatar said that there will be direct airlinks between Doha and Sarajevo, maybe as soon as 2003.
Emirates, more frequencies
Emirates also announced the introduction of three more flights a week from April 1 on the Doha-Dubai sector, to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. The new flight will leave Dubai at 9.45am, arriving in Doha at 9.45am with the return flight leaving at 10.45am and reaching Dubai at 12.35pm. Emirates777 do you know what equipment they will use?
Currently, the airlines has two flights daily, both leaving Doha in the evenings and would take the weekly schedule to 17 flights between the two cities.

Thanks for the info. The flights will be operated by A330-200s in low density configuration. Actually the third flight will be on a Saturday not Sunday. A few years ago, Emirates had morning flights into DOH but these were dropped. Looks like as the morning bank grows and more acft are available they are reintroducing the flights. Interestingly the Gulf routes have shown a lot of strength recently. Emirates has been operating extra flights to KWI, and later this year they will add more morning departures to KWI.
BTW, would you happen to know how much capacity the Saudi govt. has allocated to QR on the RUH route? Emirates has been trying hard with the Saudis to get more access but with limited success. They desperately want to increase freqs into RUH and JED. On DMM they have been granted more rights.

Im not surprised about the loads to Kuwait these days. A friend of mine was telling me a few days ago that they were having the "Hala Febrai'r" or "Hello Febraury" festival in Kuwait these days, Q8's equivalent to the Dubai Shopping festival. Most visitors during the festival are Khaleeji..
