For anyone in Miami - I just moved back to a house on the north side of the airport where I lived a couple of years ago, right by the perimeter road. Unfortunately the construction of the new runway has taken away all the great viewing points that used to be there. The southside perimeter road is not so good any more either thanks to the new security post 9/11 when they blocked off all the parking areas. So, where to go now? Any suggestions? Thanks....

I'm not from Miami, but I spent some time there last summer.
But what about the South side of the airport by The World Transport Press store, you know Airliners Magazine?
I forgot the name of the company, I want to say Just Plane Crazy, but they sell models and videos. It is on the southwest side of the airport. I don't know the names of the streets even though they are all numbers like 172nd st. and stuff and avenues run one direction etc. Anyway, next to that store is a furniture warehouse/store that has a parking lot with views right to the runway, the only thing that would obstruct the views was if there was a train parked there.

Thanks guys - Chepos - Yes, that resturant parking lot (and the restaurant) itself are about the best places that are still available. It has a great view. The shame is that all teh great viewpoints on the north side seem to be gone thanks to construction. I'm going to investigate the area near the tower when I have time.
