KLM will propably choose for the Boeing 777-200 to replace all Boeing 767's and Boeing MD-11's starting by the end of this year.
This would be the perfect opportunity for KLM to redesign it's current livery. I know from reliable sources that KLM is thinking about this matter.
Would you design an enhanced/improved livery for KLM on the B777-200? I think I will start designing too although I'm not contracted (yet) to do this prestigeus job... looking forward to your efforts. Hope to show you mine a.s.a.p.

Air Orange does not really know what he is talking about in his message...
The 777 is the logical choice for KLM, but it will replace the 747-200 (called -300 in KLM) first. The 767s and MD11s have a decade or so to go. With delivery of 2-3 aircraft a year (same rate as current service introduction of the 747-400) the replacement programs would almost seamlessly connect.
At that time the SC will be flying which is a much more logical replacement for the MD11 and 767.

Air Orange, there is NO need to change every airline's livery! I know it's your job, and you do a good job very often. But there are certain liveries you should NOT touch, e.g. KLM, Luxair, Lufthansa and (most importantly) the current Air Malta livery!!!

Leave well enough alone !
KLM have a classic, beautiful, elegant livery that will stand the test of time for the next 100 years. What next - would you suggest painting the Taj Mahal pink, giving the Statue of Liberty sunglasses?
It is only in Dutch so I will translate the article:
Battle Boeing and Airbus for mega-order KLM.
AMSTELVEEN/TOULOUSE Planemanufacturers Boeing and Airbus are involved in a fierce battle for a billion dollar order from KLM. The airline wants to order between 12 and 34 planes with a catalogue price of roughly 150 million each. Airbus very keen to get a foothhold at KLM, which is very Boeing orientated.
Despite the downturn in aviation after the september 11 attacks, KLM wants to decide which plane to take within monhs. Currently the airline is making a loss, but sees the market getting better. The current aviation crisis seems like a good moment to order planes.
The manufacturers have made some very attractive orders to sell planes that have been cancelled. Boeing had to reduce its productioncapacity a lot, and had to fire thousands of employees. Rival Airbus put expansion plans on a hold for the same reason. A large order from KLM is therefore more than welcome.
However, the purchase price is not the most important factor, says KLM spokesperson B. Koster. The new planes will be graded with several aspects. Included in these aspects are passenger satisfaction, flexibilty, environmentally friendliness and (obviously) economics.
The airline wants to make a decission before the beginning of the summer. "That decission can range from ordering nothing, to ordering up to 34 planes", according to Koster. In the last case situation the order would be valued at roughly 5 billion dollar. It has not yet been decided whether KLM will buy the planes outright. Leasing companies have also been approached.

Why should you know that KLM is going to order the 777? According to the article posted here by Petertenthije KLM did not even decide wether they are going to get new planes or not. As they say from 0 to 34 aircraft.
