The programming they have is wonderful but there is so little of it. They tend to rerun the same programs (many from the U.K) repeatedly.

Yes, I have noticed that as well. However, they did have a great show on the history of Lockhead the other night. Now if they can get one of Boeing.....

I LOVE Discovery Wings! I watch it ALL the time. They have some REALLY great stuff on Soviet designers and aircraft, especially - information that was not previously made available, I think. I've learned alot from DW.  Smile

Here, Discovery Wings starts at 6pm, and ends at 3am. I think the programs are repeated 3 or 4 times every night as well. Alot of it is rubbish, or repeats, but sometimes you do get the odd good program! There was one about the ATC at New Yorks airports, it had some really good videography, and was really inciteful, if only it was on again..

Come to think of it they do a lot of Russian tech programming, although mostly military (understandably so) I wish they would do more civilian stuff though

Until they kick in some more commerical aviation programs, this channel is not in my mind.
They need to stick in some inflight shows and interesting airline stuff. Not just 24/7 of other aviation things.

cheers

3 words. Wings at War. Everytime I turn that channel on. I rarely catch a good commercial aviation show. Its all military and that one show is constant it seems.  Sad

There are some good programs. But they do repeat programs A LOT. I also see Wings at War on all the time. But its during the evening here that they show other programming. During the day is usually Wings at War though.

I have it here and I barely watch it cause there is hardly anything on commercial aviation. But I once saw a really good show on the development of the 707 and 777.

When my digital cable worked, Discovery Wings was on at my house at least 60% of the time. But the digital cable is busted, so I am yet again without any good aviation programming.  Sad

i watch it occasionaly, it can be good but as mentioned before- there is too much military stuff on, which is fine for a channel dedicated to wings, but its not what everyone wants to see. cant please everyone i suppose.
i do like flightdeck, but ive seen most of them, and they are mainly repeats now and then. flightline is good but again repeats. the best thing they ever showed was the 20th century jet (which was a repeat from anotehr channel- and they show it a lot now, every couple of months or so) generally a good channel, but could do with some more civilian documentaries.
does anyone watch ukhorizons? they repeat some good 'Airport' shows and also 'LAX' and i think lagos airport as well, although wings shows that now!
regards

They seem to replay the same shows every four hours or so for about a week, and then replay some different shows every four hours for aobut a week and so on. Its alright, but I also wish they did more on commercial aviation and had more updated programs. They did have a good program running a while back on the 747 though.

Otherwise I watch it occasionally, finding some things intersting, others utterly boring. But the beauty of Digital Cable is that I when bored I can just flip down to Dicovery Civilization, Discovery Science, or the National Geographic Channel or the 'mainline' Discovery and TLC channels. These usually have some very good shows on, but also have the habit of overplaying some of them, not as much as Wings does though.

I really enjoyed the heck out of that show that featured American Airlines operations at DFW. It covered just about every aspect of a normal day behind the scenes. I found it fascinating really.  Smile
They need more shows like that.

I have to agree that it is very repetitive. But sometimes the programs are very good.

It's a good channel, but they put too much stuff about military aircraft which doesn't interest me.

What interests me are airliners, so I watch Discovery Wings when they have something about airports and airliners.

I am in high school and in my religion and biology binders I have photos I took on a trip in CLT. And everyday, someone asks me if I'm a terrorist. They ask me if I like the planes that crash into buldings and if I plan on crashing a plane into a building. I was just wondering if anybody else is having these kind of problems, or what I can do about it.

I used to love that channel but in the second half hour of any show it is 20% show and 80% commercials.

What is the difference between Fighter pilots and God? God never thought he was a fighter pilot.
25 Post contains images BA777 : Shall we write to discovery BA777
26 BH346 : Yeah, DW is not really intersting to me since they're mostly into military aviation. Once in the while they have something interesting on. Whatever ha
27 PatM04 : They also tend to do a lot of history of aviation which can be very boring.
28 Silverstreak : I have avoided the DW channel because I thought that it would most probably have a vast amount of its' programming time devoted to military interests.
