Although its been been almost 5 years since Viasa ceased operations there is still many people who remember this great airline. I found this site and I thought I'd share it with you in case you didn't know it existed.

Viasa was a world class airline indeed. I fell in love with aviation because of a Viasa aircraft. They trully had an amazing livery, what a pity I never had the opportunity of flying them. Thanks for the website it is great.

We need this Ailine back......we all need to preasure the Vzlan Goverment to bring back this Ailine, or to sell the name and routes to a private company so the can bring back this wonderful airline....

I agree that its such a lost to see the national airline of a country end up like that, however, in my humble opinion I don't agree that governments should be too involved in spending too much of the people's money just to fly an airline that doesn't bring money in but looses money out of the country. That money can be better used for social programs that will be of real benefit to the people. Let the private sector take care of flying the flags for the country. They can do it much better and the government should concentrate on the things that will benefit the people the most.
The case of Viasa, like so many examples in Latin America is directly involved to the inaptitude of the people in the government who's wrong political decisions have caused a wonderful country like Venezuela, which at it's golden age was a prosperous land of opportunity, to a country settled with poverty. It is ironic that Viasa's case came to symbolize the tragic downfall of this beautiful country.
Yet, even though I make these statements and I know they're correct I sincerely wish that the government would have had the money to be able to keep Viasa flying. Actually, I wish they would have done the correct decisions from the very beginning to have had the airline flying proudly to this day... like always, but what if...
