I see all you people here at Airliners.net at 3:00 in the morning where you live...How do I know what time it is where you live? I just make a rough estimation...why do you stay up so late, or get up so early to just log in here?? At 3:00am I'm doing either two things...sleeping like a baby....or partying like an animal...
Anyone else here who usually sits at their computer in the middle of the night logged to Airliners.net?
I sure never do this.

I am in the Central Time Zone of the U.S.A.

I don't know what that means in Grenwich Mean Time, or UTC, but it is now 12:30am here.

Well, here in Miami it is 1:30AM, & the only reason I'm here is because downstairs it is so noisy in my house I just can't go to sleep. My parents, relatives, my parent's friends, etc., are all having a reunion of sorts...
That is why I'm here now.

Yes, I know is morning in Europe, Middle East, afternoon in Asia, evening in Australia. But my question specifically was if people from the Forum go to their computers to come to Airliners.net when it is the middle of the night where they live, because I don't do that.

What is up with the time that it says the responese & posts are posted? What time zone is that? It says the last response to this thread was posted at "7:41".

Is it 7:41 in Sweden? Or where is it?

Maybe an administrator can answer this? I've always wondered why the times are never even close,....

Yes, in Sweden and most of Europe, except the U.K, Iceland & Portugal. Finland, & some parts of Eastern Europe are one hour ahead of the time you see in the posts. It is +1 GMT.

What does it mean to be one hour ahead of the post? The times that are listed are 7 hours ahead.

Also, to Jim, no - this site is on a server in Sweden. So its not an "american" site per se. Thats why I wondered if the times listed are those of the server over there.

OK. Lets see here:
Example: The post says it was 8:00 when it was posted. That means it is 8:00 in Lulea, in Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Madrid, Amsterdam, indeed most of Europe.
8:00 in the morning. This time zone is one hour ahead of Greenwich mean time, indicated thus as +1
It would be 9:00 in Helsinki, Finland, Athens & other areas of Eastern Europe.
It would be 7:00 in London, Lisbon. London is in the Greenwich mean time.
It would be 2:00 in New York, Miami, all the east coast of the U.S
It would be 1:00 in Chicago
It would be 23:00 in Los Angeles (11:00PM, but since this is a universal site, military time clears the confusion of AM/PM)
It would be 4:00 in Buenos Aires
It would be 5:00 in Rio de Janeiro
It would be late evening in Australia
That is as much as I know.

I know, it is very confusing...time zones, half-time zones, dailight savings, etc. I still have trouble myself, it has taken me a long time to even begin to fully understand it. My best advice, just worry about your own time, right?

If i remember right, this site IS based in Sweden! There was a topic about how it was messing up, and the ADMIN said it was based there!! SO it is NOT an 'American' site!

Yes, this is not American site, it is from Sweden. But most people here are from U.S. This is the order of the number of people from the regions I see:
1. U.S & Canada
2. European
3. Latin American
4. Asians
5. Australia, New Zealand
6. Africa
Do you think I'm right? If not, let me know.
