AC F-28 At YQG Today?

According to http://www.flightarrivals.com (as well as http://www.flytecomm.com and http://www.gtaa.com ), flight ARN7046 departed YYZ at 07:59 this morning, arriving at YQG (Windsor, Ontario) at 08:39, operated by an F-28. All other scheduled (non-seasonal) pax flights to YQG are operated by Air Ontario DHC-8's and have flight numbers that start with 1 (AC1xxx), BTW. I couldn't find any matching return flights, though. So, does anyone have any idea what that a/c was doing at YQG, and where did it go (or is it still at YQG?)? What does the 7xxx flight number signify?

Any help is greately appreciated!

Sorry, the flight number was 7064, not 7046. BTW, it showed YXC-YYC as a previous leg with the same flight number.

One can charter out a F-28 from Air Canada Regional, so could it be that?

Other possibilities are that it subbed for a dash-8, it was a repo (repositioning) flight - why it would go via YQG is a mystery to me, or it could have been a DND flight for the gov't.

There was an F-28 still in the "Canadi>n Regional" c/s at Dorval (YUL) today. Arrived around 13:00. Could it have been the same? Sorry, I didn't catch the rego.

Was a real treat to see here. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me.

I'm wondering about the F-28's. There are still some operating out of YYC. What is kinda surprising though is that there are 8 F-28's parked in a secluded corner of YYC. That's not the weird part. The planes seem to shift around atleast twice a month. Everytime I've gotten out to YYC, I've taken a shot of just the planes to see how they have been moving around. One of them happened to the the last plane to wear the Proud Wings scheme. Only 2 are wearing Transitional, and the other 5 are in the original Canadian scheme. Apparently one, "Spirit of Winnipeg" suffered some damage. It's nose is dented in a couple of places and there seems to be some work done around the right front door.

They're probably moving them around to run the engines every once in awhile and to keep them in half decent shape (if that's possible with an F28  Smile) But as with any old aircraft it will be sad to see the go.

It's funny seeing all the different schemes of F28's. As a note, on Sunday I flew the "Proud-Wings" F28 from YXX-YYC. One question about them though, why do some of the F28's differ in interior panelling. The windows are different on some, and I noticed one plane had different reading lights etc.... Did these planes come to Candian Regional from different operators? for I'm not sure about the history of the F28's. Thanks

Canadian Regional aquired all of it's F-28's since it's parent company was limited financially. Time Air had some, as did Norcan Air, and even Transair! I'm not sure if these one are the same ones at Canadian Regional. I know a large amount came from US Air.

Yeah Fallingeese, I'm pretty sure CRA acquired their F28s from all the sources you mentioned.

There's an F28 parked in YVR with three different colour schemes--old colours door, transitional fuselage and tail, and a Proud Wings nose.

The Transair F-28's left the fleet around 1980 and went to Air Niugini. They are not now back in the CRA fleet.

I do recall the Transair F-28's in YWG and occasionally YYZ back in the late 70's!

Hmm, ARN7016 was scheduled to depart YUL at 1225 and arrive at YQG at 1354 today, operated, again by an F-28. It hasn't departed as of 1325, though. Can't find any return flights for this flight either. It doesn't appear on AC's online timetable and flight status, so I guess it almost certainly confirms it as a charter flight.

Have to make a correction to my previous post, ARN7067 is scheduled to depart YQG at 1610 and arrive at YYZ at 1657. That should be operated by the same F-28.

Whoa! That was one smokey departure! Big grin

It was wearing an all white livery with an AC tail, as far as I could tell.
