Ok, with the new McNamara Terminal now open, plans for major improvement in the old terminals, new runway, and Northwest expending its fleet, what do you expect to be DTW's growth? Such things as passenger numbers, new destinations, international service, new flights, etc. What is needed at DTW? Please give me your predictions!!

For NWA to get rid of the DC-9's and DC-10s and get some new wide bodies like the 767 or 777 (for NWA), I would love to see that. The A340 and A330 also would be nice in NWA's fleet. Their first priority now that the new terminal is done should be to get rid of their older planes and replace them with newer aircraft.

I recall two months ago there was talk about NWA and buying Boeing's, if i remember right NWA has no planes for buying B777 in the near furture. Just lots of Airbus planes.

A lot more NW flights. Almost daily Northwest is adding additional flights to various locations plus a lot of new locations mainly places in the Southeast with their CRJs.
There has been a lot of talk around the airport that DTW will take over a lot of International flights from ORD. I don't know exactly what they mean by that, but maybe because DTW has a faster and larger customs area. I don't know if that means more international carriers or just more NW flights to international locations

Why would NWA want to go buy 767 or 777 to get rid of their DC-9's and 10's? They have A-330's for the DC-10's...but why go out and buy new a/c for the DC-9's right now....they are all paid for, they are still reliable and the way the industry is right now it just would not be a bright move...they have no plans to get rid of their 9's for a while....NWA is going to expand in DTW, starting June 5th, there late bank of flights start up again..the first time since Sept.11th.

This DC-9 replacement thing is a broken record.
NO ONE KNOWS.
No one knows if they will be replaced soon nor do they know for sure that the DC-9 will stay around unless you are CEO Anderson and his immediate people.
Yes I would like to see a DC-9 replacement come soon too, but people keep saying 717 or A318... what if they did something really BIZARRE and ordered a 737NG? I know it doesnt make sense, but I guess I never expected NW to order 757-300s either.
