Anyone heard much about this aircraft? It's being showed on Discovery Wings right now - a small bizjet-type aircraft, originally intended for cargo-carrying only, with four engines in pods slung under its wings. It never made it into production, and was only a prototype, losing out to government orders for the Lockheed Jet Star.

Any pictures anywhere?

Flygga thank you soo much for the pics, that is such a beautiful and most of all very interesting aircraft! it is soo sad it never made it into production. It reminds me of cartoon-like impressions of the Boeing 707. Thanks heaps again!

No problem Braniff Place, this plane has intrigued me since I found out a few years ago that it was still around. In fact I believe it is for sale. Here is ad I found on another web site:

SO YOU WANT THE ULTIMATE , ULTRA RARE TOY? HOW ABOUT A ONE OF A KIND, 4 ENGINE BIZ JET PROTOTYPE - 480 KNOT CRUISE, RESEMBLES A BABY BOEING 707 - BURNS LOTS OF GAS, BUT WHAT JET WITH THIS KIND OF SPEED DOESN"T?/ SHE ONLY HAS 650 HOURS TOTAL TME S/NEW AND IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. HER NAME: McDONNELL 220, SERIAL NUMBER 1 & THE ONLY ONE. A TRAILER FULL OF SPARES (THE ONLY SPARES) GO WITH THIS BEAUTIUL MASTERPIECE. LICENSED EXPERIMENTAL AND READY TO GO. ASKING $750,000 - WILL LISTEN TO ALL SERIOUS OFFERS AND OR TRADES, UP OR DOWN.

Where else can you get a 4 engine jet airliner with only 650 hours total time and trailer full of spare part for only $750,000! What a steal!
