Hi:

I was wondering if the width on the upper deck of the 744 is the same as that of a 757/737. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

the width of the 744 upper deck should be about the same as the normal Economy configuration is 3-3, just like the 737/757 standard.
Due to the fact that the upper deck's ceiling is closer to the outer skin of the aircraft (compared to the main deck where there's still plenty of space above the ceiling), the cabin has a more rounded shape and is not as high inside. You also sit further away from the window compared to the main deck. There are also no overhead baggage bins. I remember once flying on the upper deck of a BA 747-100 and they had the bag bins between the window seat and the wall.

Best regards,

Tom

LanPeru, you can see pictures of various configurations of the upper deck. Type in "upper deck" in the KEYWORD box on the main page.

Is United the only airline with overhead bins in the 744? I just got back from Hong Kong on a 744 on UA in the upper deck, and it had overhead bins.

But it also had the little compartments beside the seat, which I like.

Patroni, I loved flying in the upper deck of a 747 Classic, didn't you? It's so much smaller than the 744, so it felt like its your own plane.

So, what other airlines have the luggage bins in the upper deck I wonder....?

Most of the newer 747's have overhead bins on the upperdeck. Ours, like United's, do have the overhead bins.

SAA have overhead bins on their 744's - not sure about the classics.

So then the business class seats on the upper deck of a 744 can fit in the cabin of a 757?
