Now, this might be a little bit out of context for this forum, But I think that aviation is too lonely. I was at MAN the other week, and I tried to ask someone what aircraft had just taken off. (Continental 777-300) I knew it was a 777 but unsure as to whether it was -200 or -300. I asked someone, Nicely and politely if he could tell me and He just ignored me, which I felt was not very nice. (Just short of rude i think). I managed to find out when my friend realised what it was. I have also noticed that I get a few strange looks from people when they see me trying to go about my hobby, or whenever I ask them a question (Which I feel arent stupid) I asked someone who "Jet Set" was on the ATC Radio (Air 2000). Again, I got a negative comment, he just laughed and ignored me. Maybe I get bad experiences and I am sure there are some friendly people about, but so far I havn't met any?!?!. If someone asks me a question, even if it is a stupid question to me, then I still answer. I am new to this hobby and I enjoy it very much, but its just when I get ignored or something else like it, then it makes me want to stay at home.
Does anyone have similar experiences, or do you love going to the Airport to meet up with mates and have a good 'ol chat about whatever?!?!
Tell em your experiences as I am in need of some enlightenment

I had a different experience at LAS. I was waiting for my flight to come to the gate and I took a picture of a NW A320. The guy next to me asked me what kind of aircraft it was. I told him it was a Airbus A320. I also told him that there a lot of planes that land here and some in storage and he said ok and I left.

Hi Kaddyuk, interesting new topic you started.
I'm sorry to hear about your bitter experience. Try to digest and be ready to reach out again to someone else.

I think this "loneliness" is actually a universal problem, which of course manifests itself also in aviation.
As human beings are much more valuable than planes, we should always respect and support our fellow aviation friends more than we cherish our beloved A's & B's. Unfortunately, we may sometimes loose this perspective and be harsh with each other.
Personally I've always had a positive experience when talking to people, while watching planes at BRU. Sometimes we take a look at each other's camera or binoculars and we share some interesting stories.
