Nice... How long will this last.. The Traverse City airport manager hates 727's as they are hard on the runways. His exact words. I guess hes right... Its just a cheap 707. (3 engines vs 4 engines). It wont be long till we finally see an A320! I feel it!
NW 1993 will operate as a 727 from DTW-TVC from June 7th for the summer for added capacity.

When is NW retiring its last 727 I thought is was before summer. I think they only have 14 left, If they do retire them mid summer you probley would see the A320 to replace it. What other a/c does NW fly into TVC in the summer months.

NW served TVC with 727-200's.... LOL.. Charters. Never scheduled. Only once that I know of did NW replace a scheduled DC9-50 with with a 727-200... It was only for show during the evening Stardust "airshow" at the airport. This is very good news for those of us that would like to see other aircraft besides the DC9's in TVC. This will ultimately open the door for at least summertime A320's in the future. NW serves TVC year round, although more flights are added in the summer obviously.
I also recieved a letter reply from Comair about serving TVC. They stated they are keeping a close eye on the market and to look for CRJ service to CVG in the future. If that goes over well, it was stated that ASA will be added with service to ATL. Possibly even summertime mainline Delta.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Comair start flying CVG-TVC...I've always wondered why they didn't start this route before.
I wouldn't count on seeing DL mainline anytime soon. DL is becoming more and more picky where they send mainline and they have fewer and fewer mainline planes to work with. In fact in the whole state of Michigan, the only airport to receive mainline service is DTW.

Maiznblu... its a pretty sacked up type bet if you want to bet with a NW insider as to what's going on in his company... that's like me betting with you that Mesaba has a new training center in Eagan. I know for a fact we do and even if you knew, you didn't know it for a fact.
Take your odds to Vegas... you might do quite well. For the house that is...

Duh, they will last one schedule.. Your right on! NW will fly the 727-200 into TVC for the busy summer season. Oh yea, well see the A320 within the next couple years in TVC. At least scheduled summer service. Its quite possible the 727 will be replaced now and then with an A320 this summer. Yea, for the record, on the ramp here, it says A319/A320 on the parking lines already. So, who wants to bet?

Just because there are lines for parking airbii on the ground, doens't mean, that NW is going to serve the market with that aircraft! Have you heard of diversions? TVC is a good place as an alternate airport if say manybe an airbus needs to divert.
Still willing to bet Favre knows what he's talking about...

I've flown in and out of TVC a fewtimes and seen the lines. I've also seen lines at other airports for DC10s, 747s, etc. It desn't mean they have or will have any service, its as stated, for diversions, charters, or some other uniue situation. TVC will probably get Airbuses one day, just not soon. The bus has long range so it makes sense to use it on some o the longer flight and keep the larger DC9s, and 727s in their. Along ith Mesaba nd their Saabs and our CRJs to give people a number of time choices.

You know, you're right. Nobody has ever made a valid point here and as such you chose to not want to understand the realities in the business. Oh well...

HAHA!! PSU... nice call. Say - I looked into emailing you but there is no email address in your profile... am I missing something?
Saab340: there is no predetermined time that an airline must stop operating a given a/c. Most intelliegent and businessminded airlines retire their planes when they no longer become efficient to operate. This means that when it becomes to expensive to maintain them, fuel them and staff them, they get rid of them.

30 Admluvs2fly: as for keeping some 727's for charters, FACT; the NBA charters are ending. NW did not pick up the contract for the next season. As for the other chart
31 PSU.DTW.SCE: what is all this talk about swinging on genitalia?? Thats messed up. NW still has the NBA charters for next season, 2002-2003, then thats end of it wh
