AA might start service from ORD-HKG starting the end of next year. And this would be ORD first transpolar route. Also they would codeshare with Cathay Pacific. Does this mean that Cathay would run this route or would AA. Also why doesn't UA use the transpolar route from ORD-HKG but AA would.

This is pretty old news, actually. Word is ORD-HKG (and ORD-GRU) was going to start this April, but then 9.11 happened.

Hi
This would not be the first polar route from ORD. I work for UA. We use the Polar 2 and Polar 3 daily on the ORD-HKG flight. Thanks.

I thought that any route from ORD to HGK was a transpolar route.  Confused

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!
