This aircraft was at MSY last week, and I looked to see who owned it. Found out it was Kenneth Behring, a real estate developer in San Francisco. The name sounds vaguely familiar, especially to the sports fan in me. Isn't he also a part-owner of a pro sports team: I'm thinking either the Seattle Mariners or Seahawks?

Here's the aircraft:

Found the answer, he does indeed own the Seahawks. Must be nice to travel in this when the team goes commercial.

Ken Behring used to own the Seattle Seahawks, but they were bought by Paul Allen a few years ago. Paul Allen is the co-founder of Microsoft, and he flies in a 757!

Tom,

Yes Ken Behring no longer owns the Seahawks. He first had a DC9-15 that he used to commute from his house here in the Bay Area up to Seattle:

He eventually want a larger aircraft with more range and that is when he got the MD87.

Ken Behring is very interesting man. Currently he is retired. He started out with nothing during the depression. He got a job selling cars to pay for college. He decided he like the car business so he quit college to sell cars full time. Soon he had his own car dealership. Eventually he moved to Florida and started selling and developing real estate. After Florida he moved out her to California where he started the exclusive community of Black Hawk. He is a true example of how anyone can make it in America. Now that he is retired he is in the business of giving away his fortunes to good causes. In recent years he has given over $100 million dollars to the Smithsonian Museum for a new American History wing. He feels that this country has given him so much that he wants to give something back. He also is very busy with a charity he started called Wheel Chairs for the World. This charity supplies free wheelchairs to poverty stricken people all over the world. Mr Behring often delivers a load wheel chairs personally in his MD87.
