Can someone tell me if the fuselage length and wing of the A340-300 and A330-300 are identical? I understand that the 340's four engines result in considerable fuel efficiency on long-hauls, but I am uncertain if there are any other physical differences between the two aircraft that result in better performance for their respective roles. I fly CX 340's on both long and short hauls and I know that there are times airlines use the 330 across the Atlantic. CX also uses the 330 on a fairly long flights from HKG to Australia. Does it pay to have two types of aircraft when they can perform similar duties?
