It is nice to see things getting back to normal.

Cathy Pacific will start flying into Anchorage again. They had canceled their flights and rerouted through vancouver after Sep 11th.

This was due to some draconian screening rules that where imposed that required everyone on the aircraft to deplane and pass through customs even if the aircraft's final destination was not in the United States.

These ineffective and unneccessary rules where rolled back and starting Saturday Cathey will again make fuel stops in ANC.

Flying back to ANC is actually a good thing. It will save some time since the route to ANC is less deviated from the great circle route. Also, flying back to ANC can solve the payload problem for the sector frm YVR to HKG.

for your info

What's the payload problem for YVR to HKG? Are the no. of pax. and luggage very restricted?

The wintertime headwinds for west-bound flights over the north Pacific can be atrocious. So much so that even the supposedly long-legged A340's can't take off with a full load going YVR-HKG

In addition, Pax load has to give its way to cargo since cargo can generate more revenue than Y-cls pax.
