CO ranks Best Airline in North America, on top 10 list for Global Airline of the Year
CO in the 2002 Airline of the Year Skytrax Research survey was ranked as the Best Airline in North America on International routes. The carrier also was ranked sixth on the top 10 list for Airline of the Year among major global airlines. American Airlines ranked eighth on the list, as the only other major U.S. carrier.
Airline of the Year is the world’s Largest Airline Passenger Survey and attracted more than four million nominations around the world between August 2001 and March 2002. Survey data was gathered through online customer surveys, corporate travel questionnaires and onboard/airport customer interviews.
“The survey is . . . the only global study that covers just about all customer types from every corner of the globe,” said Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted. “North American carriers sometimes slip up on service quality, but Continental Airlines put in a good showing at 6th.”

Interesting to see Air Canada at No 10 (third ranked North American carrier), and, maybe not too surprisingly, CX getting No 2 just ahead of SQ. Congrats to Emirates and Continental.

Rather interesting selection criteria ... all based on "comfort" issues rather than transportation -- convenient schedules, on-time performance, etc.

Pete, throw in on-time performance, and CO still would end up on top, since we were #1 for on-time.  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up

Thumper, are you referring to CO? If you are, I can assure you our load factors are quite healthy these days!  Smile Have been for a good 5 years now.

Can't argue that! They may even move up a couple of notches. If CO would start jet service to JAN, I may just dump Delta. As it stands, CO flies ATR's and EMB120's from JAN to IAH. CO and NW are designated as our company's "preferred" carriers, and it's always a hassle for me to justify choosing Delta.

Cheers,
Pete

Wasn't trying to put CO down as I fly CO, Delta, and Southwest depending on where I am going, over everbody else! Just wondered why DL and WN have more pax? CO is great!!!

Delta-flyer,

My prediction is that Continental will start jet service to JAN by Summer. I think that not only will you see Jets to IAH but by 2003 you might even see jets to CLE or EWR for easy connections to the NorthEast. I hope we get your business in the near future. I assure you that we value every customer, especially the business traveler.

Actually flown: EMB-120 EMB-145 B717 B737 B757 B767

Good for CO!!!

I am Gold Elite at CO and their service continues to be excellent........if possibile, its even seems to be getting better in these difficult times. Also, love all of those new airplanes, and BusinessFirst is going to get even better with an improved product.

I am looking forward to CO's next international expansion, when the world economy and the travel biz picks up a bit more.

WAY TO GO CO!!! I think the real people that make CO so great are the employess at the airline. Before Gordon took over the company was in shambles. It was the loyal employess (and customers) that stuck through the tough times that brought the company where it is today. Never had a problem (knock wood) with CO or its employess. They will be my choice carrier unless there are drastic changes in the company. I also hope to pilot their jets one day. See you all on board!!
